Women@Austin hits a nerve – once again!

Thanks for an amazing evening everyone, at our second Public event June 3, “2014: Be Bold” at Austin’s Capital Factory downtown. #ATXBold.

Gotta love the energy in that room!! Thanks too for all the shout-outs, tweets, and emails – it’s fun to see the momentum building for female entrepreneurial success in Austin.  It appears so many came away inspired for what’s possible in their own journeys and for Austin women. “Refreshing.” “Like coming home,” “A rare treat….” I was particularly struck by the comment: “I’d been holding back in launching my idea, but I’ve been inspired to go for it.”

As always I started the evening out with my one rule for our events – that we all leave our Super woman capes at the door.  And you guys had no problem letting down!   This is what makes Austin women special. (See refreshing blog postby @jexmusa.)  We saw it with the candid wisdom from guest speakers Michele Skelding (SVP Austin Chamber), and Gay Gaddis (CEO of T3) — in opportunities to laugh and learn from the real moments in their stories.  (Congrats Gay on being awarded E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year just a couple of nights later!  A distinction well deserved after serving this community and creating jobs these last two decades in Austin.)  We saw this same spirit from our Golden Seeds investors visiting from Dallas, and our early stage CEO Panel:  Sara Rodell, Autumn Manning, Kate Niederhoffer, and Susan Strausberg.  The purpose of these events is to open up, share failure and success, and make meaningful connections that will help you in growing your business.  Thanks for making that possible.
